Seminar Sunday 22nd June 10:30am at St Andrew’s

On Sunday 22nd June at our 10:30am Service at St Andrew’s we’ll be having another ‘Seminar Sunday.’

We’ll gather together for 20 minutes of worship and then there will be the option to go off to one of the following hour long seminars:

The Church and ‘Adolescence’ (Led by Nick Clarke) – BLUE ROOM

Nick’s notes can be viewed here: Adolescence Seminar Notes   and powerpoint here: Adolescence ppt

Adolescence, first broadcast in March 2025, is a film series that recorded the biggest audience for any streaming TV show in the UK in a single week. The issues it raised prompted Sir Keir Starmer to reference it in Parliament. It is more than just binge-worthy television. It forces us to confront critical questions about online incel culture and the growing number of misogynistic influencers, the addictive nature of social media, the naivety of many parents about what their children are accessing online and how easy it is to access. How might the Bible address these questions? Where can the Church be leading the charge in creating better conversations?

Wellbeing and Christianity (Led by Emily Spencer) – YELLOW ROOM

We’ll be exploring togther isses of wellbeing including:

  • Wellbeing culture in wider society
  • The Christian faith and wellbeing (going back to Genesis and how we were created to be and flourish, the call of Jesus to life in all its fullness)
  • What wellbeing in the church looks like (& doesn’t look like!)
  • What the church as the body of Christ has to offer to the wellbeing conversation (sharing my experience with Renew wellbeing Café)

‘How might our faith help us to engage more intentionally in caring for the world?’ (Tristan Mitchell) – OUTSIDE

We’ll be looking at what the Bible says about the envioronment and how we are called to care for our world, as we explore what this might practically look like for us.

Tristan’s handout can be viewed here: Creation Care Handout Tristan

The Quiet Revival: What is God doing and how can we join in? (Dave Bruce) – CHURCH

We’ll look at the recent ‘Quiet Revival’ Report of the Bible society which shows an increasing openness to church and spiritual things across our nation, especially in the younger genererations. We’ll then go onto have a time of discussion as to how we can respond to this as individuals and as a church: How might we be called to do church differnetly in the light of this? How can we be open to sharing Jesus more effectively at this time?
