‘Boredom Bags’ & serving the community!

Listen to Alice and Helen share an idea to bless our community in this time of Coronavirus.

We’d love you to help with the ‘Boredom Bag’ project

Join us in making these bags, full of things to do, to help combat boredom during lockdown and to share God’s hope and peace with children and families who are struggling and adults who are lonely and isolated. You may like to make a complete and filled bag, or just make bags or you may like to just create or find some items to go into bags!  Don’t feel like you need to stick to our suggestions of what to include in the bags, let your imagination run wild! Just imagine what might brighten the day of any of these particular groups and go for it! We really look forward to seeing what you all create and we’ll update you when bags begin to be sent out.’

UPDATE 1st May:

Thank you for so many brilliant contributions to the Boredom Bag project. We have had the equivalent of several sack loads of contributions delivered; ranging from beautiful home-sewn bags, craft kits made with toilet rolls and balloons, handcrafted wooden Solitaire games, handmade Hama bead decorations, homemade card-making kits, homemade puzzles and good-quality second-hand toys and items.
We have the opportunity to give and deliver 70 Boredom bags so far. These will be delivered to isolated elderly people, vulnerable families and individuals, Care Leavers living and isolating alone, care home residents and other members of the community known to members of our churches.
We hope to begin to deliver the Boredom Bags from next week. However we still have an URGENT NEED FOR MORE HOMEMADE ACTIVITY/ CRAFT ITEMS, especially for bags that have been requested for teenagers and Care Leavers. Also homemade activity/ craft items for Key Stage 2 children (8-11 years) and the elderly.
We would love to make the bags as personal as we can so the homemade items are what really make the bags. If you are able, please could you have a go at making one (and perhaps replicating it a few times) activity/ craft and then dropping them off in the box of the porch of our home or Helen’s house in the next few days, so that we can get the bags out as soon as possible.
Thank you SO much. Please be praying that these will be a blessing to many in the community.
